Dia de los Muertos

posted on: Wednesday, November 3

I'm one day late but I had to share this. First, a brief lesson: Yesterday was the holiday {Day of the Dead} celebrated by many in Mexico and Spain that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those who have died. {My high school Spanish teacher would be so proud.}

Now, onto the costume: My wonderful friend Kati is a HUGE lover of Halloween and her costumes are always amazing. This year she painted her face up as a traditional calaca {mask} representing a calavera {skull}, the common symbol of el Dia de los Muertos. How awesome does she look?! See her transformation below. She even won first place at El Vez in Phili. I love a good face painting and this just looks awesome! Great job Kati, can't wait to see what you come up with next year!
